One week to go!!!!

It's one week to go. I have so many ideas in my head that still haven't seen the light of day - I know that it will all get done, but geez I would like about 12 more hours in a day right now. Darn the need for sleep!

Tonight I took a good long swim - it really helped clear out the cobwebs and rejuvenated my creative muse. I had forgotten how cleansing a good swim can be. The water silences the machine around you and for a few stolen moments its just your mind, your body and the crystal clear blue pressing against you.

I want to thank Kitty Chen for the amazing job she has done on the blinkie artwork for the shop. She is incredibly gifted, fast and well, brings the imagination to life!! Here is what she did for a small ad for Heritage Scrap:

And then, here is an example of one of the designer blinkies:

Aren't they just so fun? Matches the site perfectly!! A very big shout out to Alessandra Designs, one of our new Heritage Scrap Designers, who very kindly contributed art from her kit, Seasons of Autumn for the creation of the designer blinkie! The background and finial at the top are right from the shoppe itself - can't wait for you all to see it :)

Well, its late. I best get back to loading product.

See you soon!

Setting Sail!

Greetings!

Well, I am taking the advice of my favorite quote by Mark Twain, "Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. EXPLORE. DREAM. DISCOVER."

I have been a genealogist and family researcher for over 10 years. I came to digital scrapbooking with a desire to merge my passions for history, art and research. After several years of learning the business and growing as an artist and designer, I am very pleased to announce that on August 1st my new store, Heritage Scrap, will open for business.

My focus now and for the next couple of weeks is assembling a phenomenal, inspiring and creatively driven design team. I know you are out there - and it doesn't matter to me whether or not you are currently selling in a store or if you are a familiar name or not. Heck, to most reading this I am probably an unknown as well! What matters most is that you have true talent, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.

You will find my commission fair, my leadership focused, professional and team centered, and the experience rewarding. I look forward to receiving your submissions and learning more about you.

To apply, please email me 2 preview images as stated in the ad above to storyteller@katiemaccreative.com

All the Best!

Versaille - Glass Alpha Sets

Being a romantic Francophile at heart, I absolutely adore anything to do with the gilded age of Paris. There is nothing more gilded that the Grand Dame of all palaces, Versailles – and she is the inspiration for my two new alphas, Gilded Rose and Gilded Bleu.

The Gilded Bleu set is inspired by skies painted on the ceilings within Versailles and the exquisite pale pink set, Gilded Rose, found its inspiration from paintings and fabrics in Marie Antoinette's bedroom. Each set lays beneath clear crystal glass and is encased in sparkling gold and highlights a shimmering gold letter. They include a full set of uppercase letters.

Use them to accent your next romantic page, card or paper craft. They also coordinate with several of my paper packs and kits - Blue, Pink, Tea in Paris and Hatbox. Check them out!!

Tea in Paris

In a lushly decorated tea room, not far from the River Seine in Paris, a lovely girl of 18 sits having tea with her protective chaperone. It is late afternoon in the Spring of 1902. Watercolour rays of sunlight pour through the beveled glass window panes, coming to rest across the crisp linen tablecloth set with the finest silver and crystal. Her breathtaking tea gown is a gossamer blush silk with black velvet trim. Her auburn hair sits upon her head in a series of decorative knots and tousled curls, crowned by an astonishing hat of pale pink, ruched silk, white roses and black velvet trim. She is young, in Paris for the first time and newly engaged. Life is just beginning and her heart is full. As the years pass, she will write in her diary often of longing to return to savour another quiet afternoon by the Seine, sipping tea in Paris.

Inspired by the romance of old Paris and everything shabby and pink, this collection is lush in texture, slightly shabby and trimmed in exquisite Venetian lace and plush velvet trims. The embellishment pack contains beautiful satin ribbons, a lovely silver teapot pin and a dramatic black glass Fleur de Lys.

What could be more romantic or more French than the combination of pale pink and black? Perfect for a wide range of photographs and layouts, they add romance and whimsy to all your papercraft projects. Crafted at 300dpi in Jpeg and Png, papers are sized at 12x12.

Offered under both personal use and S4O/S4H licensing. You make your licensing selection at time of purchase.

Pinkie & Blue Boy

In the process of our annual Spring clean, two long forgotten old paintings were unearthed. The first is a beautiful copy of the painting "Blue Boy" by Thomas Gainsborough (1727–1788) - and the second is a beautiful rendition of "Pinkie" by Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769–1830). I remember these paintings hanging in the hall of my childhood home and finding them evoked a memory of innocent summers and the anticipation of what is to come.

Inspired by these two remarkable works of art, I have created two paper packs - Blue and Pink.

A touch of regent inspiration just beneath the surface, combined with lush textures and infused with romance, I think you will find them a very

versatile addition to your digital stash. Terrific as backgrounds for layouts or as tags and cards in paper crafting.

Matching elements coming soon!

Each Available in both personal use and S4H/S4O licensings - you can make your choice during checkout.

Enjoy!

Nana's Armoire - Lace Monograms

Being the incurable romantic, nothing sets my heart aflutter more than finding delicate pieces of heirloom lace. It holds in its weave and pattern the romance and dreams of distant generations. Lace handkerchiefs are always a special find and this piece of lace still takes my breath away.

To this square of gossamer, heirloom lace, I added a curvy vintage font and enhanced it an rich embroidered texture. This pack contains the entire alphabet A-Z in capital letters. These are perfect page accents for your wedding, birth and heritage pages. I have included a closeup picture so that you can see the lovely detail of the lace and letters.

Scanned at extremely high resolution and crafted at 300dpi, these monograms will size perfectly for all your layouts and craft projects. A drop shadow has been added to the preview image for display purposes. The lace looks best when given a slight shadow and placed on medium to dark backgrounds.

Be sure to check out the coordinating products for Nana's Armoire collection.

Nana's Armoire

As a young girl, my grandmother's linen armoire was a source of magical adventure for me.

Shelf upon shelf bursting beneath the weight of fabric, lace and trinkets. There were swaths of heavy French linen, delicate almost gossamer pieces of German and Belgium lace and small tins filled with buttons so beautiful they were more like jewelry. Whenever I stayed with her, I would always find my way to the cupboard and spend hours wrapping myself in the marvelous fabrics and trims.

Such is the inspiration for this new collection, Nana's Armoire.

Aged fabrics and textures in shades of taupe and cream, mother of pearl, silver and gold. I believe these papers and embellishments will add just the right touch of heirloom magic for your layouts, cards and paper crafts.

Available in both personal use and S4H/S4O licensing, this lovely kit can be purchased here on this blog - or through my store at www.purplepaperflowers.com

Framing Your Ancestors

One of the first memories I have of my grandmother's family are the photographs that lined the bookshelf in her home. Formed of heavy, decorated cardstock, soft leather and textured linen blends, these frames held the faces that have captivated me all of my life.

This collection of frames are perfect for your heritage layouts. There are 6 paper and fabric frames - two of which coordinate perfectly with papers from my Vintage Paper Pack. Additionally, I have included 2 metal accent frames. You can use these to frame your journaling or as a name plate.

I hope you like these as much as I do!

These frames are licensed for both personal and professional S4H/S4O use. You can purchase them here on my blog via the storefront in the left margin.

Kate

Valentine's Inspiration

I just love vintage valentines. They are romantic, inspiring and carry such great energy from the past. Each one tells a story and I wish I could hear them all first hand.

Inspired by the colours in recent find at a vintage store, I have started a new collection entitled, Victorian Valentine.

Designed around the theme of Passion, Romance and Devotion, the papers are ornate, richly romantic and sure to provide you a base for a wonderful collection of scrap pages, romantic cards and collage art.

The paper packs are done - still working on the embellishments. I imagine this collection will be quite extensive as I get so lost in the design work on this one.

A French Affair

For those who know me, they know I adore Paris. Just the idea of Paris sends my heart aflutter. It is not surprising that my Muse often presents an idea with Parisian flare. So it is with the new collection, A French Affair.
While in Paris not so long ago, I came across a wonderful shoppe not far from the Eiffel Tower. Tiny and tucked away, it holds one of the exquisite collections of linen I have ever seen.

Bringing in the New Year!

Change is always a constant in my life. It is also the bearer of unanticipated gifts and usually when the dust clears I find a blessing within.

So it was over the Christmas holiday week. The store where my products were listed suddenly closed without warning. Poof! Just like that. While still stunned by its owner's actions, I was introduced to a new store and new opportunities.

I am very proud to have been selected for the design staff of Purple Paper Flowers. The store opens on Monday and it is very exciting!! Thank you Amanda for this amazing opportunity!!! Please stop on by and check out my little corner of the garden!

And remember, change is movement and movement is necessary for growth. Look for the blessings and don't be too surprised when they are of substantial weight.

Kate
